Exterior
The 7,000-square-foot, two story center will be located
is a barn like structure, which will be a model of
energy efficiency.
The building will include solar
panels and a wind generating facility to provide power.

Center Site
The Discover the Delta Information
Center will be located on
a two-acre site at highways
12 and 160, just east of
the bridge at Rio Vista.
The site will include the
center, a grape arbor, ample
parking, outdoor exhibits
and a vegetable market. Landscaping
will feature native plants.

Interior Overview

Ground Floor Plan
The ground floor of the center will include an information
kiosk, wine tasting area, gift shop, video theater,
meeting room and interpretive displays, including
a model of the Delta and areas that feature various
information displays on fish and wildlife, energy,
history, culture, arts, geology and natural landscapes,
levees and dredging and more.

Second Floor Plan
The second floor of the center will include a multi
purpose meeting room, a display that interprets the
history, role and function of the levees in the Delta,
a computer center, offices and a meeting area for volunteers.

Delta Tour Center
The center will include an area and a foundation staff
member who can help visitors arrange tours of the
Delta. The tours will include foundation-sponsored
ones and booking for those by existing operators.
As envisioned, visitors will be able to take tours
to learn about the environment, wildlife, fishing,
levies, wineries, agriculture and more. Some tours
will be combined with learning about photography,
art and more.

Delta Model
Located on the ground floor,
the Delta model will provide
a three dimensional map of
the estuary. Visitors will
be able to identify the rivers,
islands, waterways and major
features of the Delta. They
will be able to find more information
about a particular Delta feature
or landmark on a touch-screen
computer terminal.

Gift Shop
The center’s gift shop will provide the location
for visitors to purchase items that have been produced
by residents in the Delta and by the foundation.

Wine Tasting Center
The center will include an area
where local wineries can offer
samples of their products.
Wineries will be rotated through
the area and provide wines
and information about their
operations. The area will contain
a large map showing the wine-growing
regions in the Delta.

Multi-Purpose Room
The multi-purpose room will provide space meetings
of up to 150 persons. The room will can be set up
for theater type presentations or with tables for
meetings.

Hal Schell Center
Located on the first floor, the
Hal Schell Center will be a
video theater and provide wall
space to showcase historic
photographs of the Delta.

Delta Levees
The second floor will include
a display of the history, role
and function of the levees
in the Delta. The display will
include models and photographs
that will located on the walls.

Kitchen
The second floor will include a
kitchen that can be used to provide
food for meetings and events.

Grape Arbor
A grape arbor and seating area
with picnic tables will provide
a comfortable location for
visitors to relax and enjoy
a cup of coffee.

Antique Boats and
Machinery
Antique boats, farm equipment
and dredging machinery will
be part of the displays for
those taking a short walking
tour around the grounds of
the information center.
